from 27 reviewsOur now 8 year old grandson who was born at 26 weeks and spent months in NICU was captivated by this book. It led to many questions by him and provided a great opportunity for us to discuss his early life and health issues with him. Well done!
We are so grateful to be able to share this book with our children and family. Our youngest was born prematurely and spent the first 6 months of life in NICU; our eldest child was only 2 at the time, and she had lots of questions which we weren't able to answer.
While reading this as a parent, provoked so many emotions for me. It also provided clarity to both of our girls who have seen many photographs of the journey and didn't know the why.
The illustrations are beautifully done, right down to the different medical interventions such as a CPAP mask, cannula, and pumps.
It explains the journey in a way that recognises the many complexities like the emotions that parents face and the joy of being able to bring your baby home .. finally!
We are so grateful to be able to have this as a special keepsake in our home 💕
Such a beautiful book. I gave it to my daughter in law after their 25week baby spent just over 4 months in NICU she absolutely loved the book
This is such a beautiful add on and I recommend it to everyone purchasing the book. It’s made it a beautiful keepsake that I can pass onto my daughter one day, with all of the details in one place. It’s perfectly sized and looks beautiful inside the book!
Words truly can’t begin to describe this beautiful book. I’m a premmie mama to a 30 weeker who is now 4 and starting to ask questions when she sees photos of her as a baby. This book has explained it beautifully, giving us a way to bond and reflect on her brave beginning! She has claimed this book as her own, even using the little pocket hug to place it on the pictures of the baby “so they feel loved”, she tells me!
I absolutely shed a tear or two reading it. The illustrations are spot on, with the front pages having the pattern of the iconic baby hospital blankets that I hold so close to my heart. There are only a few premmie books on the market, and this one is my absolute favourite. 🩷
This book is even more beautiful in person than I imagined! No matter what your NICU or SCN journey was you will be able to relate to this beautifully illustrated and thought out book. I can’t wait until my girls are old enough to learn their beautiful story through the help of this book. Meaghan, I hope you are so proud of what you have achieved so far, I’m not sure you understand how amazing this book is and is going to be for so many families. Thank you for sharing your journey and thank you for creating something so special to use through grief, to talk to our children about, to relive the good and the bad. Thank you for being the human you are🤍🥰
Such an incredible and beautiful book. It’s very well written and illustrated by Meaghan. So much detail has been put into writing and illustrating this book.
As a ‘old’ (some 31 yrs ago) mother of a premie, I would’ve loved to have had something like this to help me, my husband, family & friends understand the NICU journey.
I love also the fact that there’s space within the book where, the baby’s ’Hero’s’ like the drs, nurses and even support people can write a message to the baby so that when they are older they can see how much they were loved by these people during their NICU journey.
Congratulations Meaghan ❣️
This book is so thoughtfully and beautifully written AND illustrated by Meaghan. It had me gripped and in awe of what the NICU journey is like. I know the outcomes are very different and heartbreaking for some, but these babies and parents are warriors. Tears reading this knowing that this journey is a tough one and I know many people including those who don’t go through this will benefit from this beautiful book. Congratulations Meaghan. Love and respect to you, Luke and your beautiful boy Wyatt
As a fellow Nicu gradute mum, this book just hit all the feels. 2 months of emotions all conveyed in this book. Cuddled up with my son born at 29 weeks (Now 3), I almost made it through the book without tears, almost. It is so beautifully written and illustrated, such a great way to show the entire journey to bring our little ones home. Thank you so much for bringing this to life.
After going through the NICU journey and having our daughter there for 17 days, this book brought back so many memories and reflections. It reminded us that we are not alone, and that so many other families are walking this path too.
The book is raw, real, and beautifully illustrated. It truly brought a tear to my eye.
Thank you, Meaghan, for capturing such special moments during such a difficult time and turning them into something so beautiful.
This is a book I will treasure and read to my daughter as she grows — a story we can share together as we look back at her own photos from her time in the NICU. Thank you Meagan for such an amazing book!! 🥰
As a NICU baby my self and becoming a first time mum to a NICU baby I was reading this to my little man with tears rolling down my cheeks. This book holds a special place in my heart as it is definitely my life to a tee! I can not thank Meaghan enough for bringing this book into my life!
Great book..very well written and illustrated. My wife loved it also, as well as our daughter in law who is going through IVF
This book is breathtaking. It puts into words and pictures the entire NICU journey, and is such a special book to share with our ex 28 weeker. This is one that every NICU parent should have, and every premmie child can treasure. Cannot recommend highly enough!
I knew this was going to be utterly breath-taking, but holding it in my hands tonight and reading it out loud to my premmie boys brought tears to my eyes and took me right back. The highs and the lows, the ‘moments’ you will never forget (and some you pushed aside), the comfort found in others within those walls, the strength, the triumph, the heartbreak, and how it’s all intertwined to be a part of your life forever – it truly spoke straight to that fractured place in my heart that will never truly fade, but continues to slowly heal and reminds me every single day to be grateful & believe in miracles.
Meaghan, you are absolutely incredible. The impact you are having and will have on this community through your words, your illustrations and your heart, is immeasurable. The special touches & details you added (if you know, you know) truly make every page a warm hug, especially those stripes 🥹 Thankyou for connecting NICU families all over the world ♡
I ordered this book for my daughter as she was born at 30.5weeks, just received and as soon as I opened it I nearly cried. Not only is the book, story and pictures absolutely beautiful, Meaghan also added in a beautiful note, and a pocket hug! Which I love.
This book will forever be cherished with us.
